It’s hard for me to fathom that the first edition of The Sims 2 has been out for nearly ten years. Since then EA has released 18 official expansions to it’s life simulator, along with a bunch of premium downloadable store content and specialist development tools. Today however, EA has announced that they are finally done with The Sims 2, officially putting the series into retirement and losing all technical support for the decade old game. Sims fans shouldn’t fret however, as this news does have a silver lining.
In celebration of The Sims 2 finally retiring, EA have announced that Origin owners of The Sims 2 will be receiving the Ultimate Collection — which includes every expansion and stuff pack to have ever been released — absolutley free. We want you to have the most up-to-date version of The Sims 2 in your collection”, wrote EA, “so you will see a brand new addition to your Origin library: The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection.”
So how about it Sims fans? Will you be re-installing a decade of content?
